NetSafe website information for parents/caregiver

The safe and appropriate use of computers and the Internet is an integral part of the Glendowie College culture. All students are required to submit a CyberSafety student user agreement when enrolling at the school. This agreement must be signed by both the student and the parent/caregiver.

All Year 9 students attend an ICT and Internet safety presentation early in Term 1. The school’s ICT Manager (Vicki Mercer) and the student ICT team (the Tech Busters) discuss issues concerning safety on the Internet, appropriate use of the school’s computers, network and Internet access, and ICT related school procedures. This induction process is usually completed no later than Week 4 of Term 1.

As part of this induction process, the students are given their school network and Internet login information. Every student is required to logon to their accounts and set their secure passwords. Each individual student is responsible for the security of both their network account and their Internet account. The student is liable for any inappropriate activity that occurs on that user account.

If a student forgets their password, they are required to pay a $1 fee to have the password re-set. This fee is to be paid at the Accounts Office before school, during morning interval or during lunch. Students will be given a receipt which must then be presented to the Network Administrator (Zaheed Salie) in the ICT Lab during lunch Monday through Thursday. The password will be re-set within 1 to 2 days.
